Monte Solaro is the highest peak on the island of Capri, reaching 589 meters above sea level. The area around Monte Solaro is home to lush vegetation composed of nearly 900 different species. Among the most common are acanthus, strawberry tree, heather, juniper, broom, holm oak, mastic tree, lithospermum, myrtle, and smilax at higher elevations; at lower altitudes, you can find buckthorn, bay laurel, anemones, rockrose, strawberry tree, daphne, mastic tree, lithodora rosmarinifolia, myrtle, narcissus, orchids, and Italian pine. As for wildlife, the mountain is visited by numerous species of migratory birds, including the peregrine falcon.
