Villa San Michele is a residence located in the municipality of Anacapri, on the island of Capri. The villa takes its name from a small chapel that stood in medieval times at the end of the Phoenician Steps, in the area of Anacapri. The complex is arranged across several levels: the study is on the first floor, while the loggia extends through pergolas and columns to reach a circular belvedere overlooking the Gulf of Naples. The villa houses archaeological artifacts collected by Munthe in Capri, Anacapri, and elsewhere, sometimes donated by friends, including fragments of sarcophagi, busts, Roman floors, marbles, and columns. In the garden, there is a Greek tomb, and a granite sphinx stands on the belvedere, dominating the view over the entire island of Capri. (source: Wikipedia)
