Marina Grande is the main port of the island of Capri, in Italy, located north of the town of Capri and at the foot of Mount Solaro. It lies on the northern side of the island. The journey between Marina Piccola and Marina Grande takes place by sailing around the Faraglioni. Before 1928, boats docked directly in the bay, but since then the area has been transformed into a port and seaside resort, featuring a notable beach—the largest on the island. A small square overlooks the harbor, surrounded by Capri’s characteristic houses, distinguished by terraces, balconies, open galleries, and multicolored façades, brightened by Pompeian red—one of the most vivid color accents along the entire Neapolitan coast. The area is also characterized by steep terraced slopes covered with Mediterranean vegetation. At the end of the western pier stands a Corinthian capital on a tall pedestal, bearing witness to the Roman presence in the area. (source: Wikipedia)
